CRABTREE NEWS

February 14, 2020

Last Monday the children, and a lot of grown-ups, were extremely excited when it started to snow.  Although it was short lived it certainly managed to create quite a buzz throughout the building.

Please could you ensure that your child/ren come to school appropriately dressed for the cold weather.  Hats, gloves and warm coats are essential.  The weather is so unpredictable at the moment and they love to get outside to play.

Also, please make sure all clothing is labelled.

This week we held our second Parents’ Evening of this academic year and it was nice to see so many parents/carers coming along to hear all about the fantastic work their children have been doing in class.

Crabtree strongly believes a child’s education benefits significantly from home and school working together in partnership and we were all overwhelmed by the uptake.   Thank you once again for your support.

Dear Parents/Carers

Please could you ensure that all of your children’s clothes and coats are clearly labelled with their names.  We have had many items of clothing misplaced already this week.

Any items lost during the week will be in our lost property box in the hall.  If you have lost any items please come to the office and we will go through the box.

If you have picked up any items by mistake and they are not yours please return it to the office ASAP.

Any items not claimed after 3 weeks will be washed and used recycled to the appropriate class. It is much easier to return any lost property to the correct child if the items are clearly named.

Thank you

We are sad to announce that Mr Franklin will be leaving us at the end of this term after a fantastic five years at Crabtree Farm. We have recently achieved 'Music Hub Champion School' status for 2019-20. This is a huge achievement for our school and shows all of the hard work from staff and children at Crabtree. As a Music Hub Champion School, we have been recognised for going the extra mile to make sure that all children can access a music education and supporting children to benefit from opportunities to make music in and out of school. We are extremely lucky to have our music teacher, Mr Hull, who inspires children at Crabtree to continue learning their instruments in out-of-school groups and events and even when they leave Crabtree.

A huge well done and thank you to everyone involved!

Following last season’s promising performances, the Crabtree Farm football team started their competitive season with an indoor tournament at Harvey Haddon. 5 schools played a round robin format, with the top 2 going on to a grand finals event taking place in December. The team put in an amazing performance, seeing them top the table with 4 wins out of 4. The first place finish was fully deserved not only due to their footballing performances, but also thanks to their fantastic sportsmanship and respect for the game and their opponents. The kind comments made by the organisers suggest that they certainly did themselves and the school proud.

We followed that tremendous performance up with our first league game in a couple of years. We matched a strong Rufford team on the pitch, and began to show our dominance by racing into a 2-0 lead. Rufford got a goal back before half time, which could have proved to be a setback. However, the boys’ resilience shone through, as they went and scored...

Today the pupils, parents and staff here at Crabtree Farm Primary School got behind Macmillan Cancer Support's annual Coffee Morning and managed to raise an impressive £1208.83 for this good cause.

We'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported today's fundraising event.  We wouldn't have been able to raise this incredible amount of money if it wasn't for those of you who baked a cake, joined us for a coffee or wore non-uniform. You should all feel very proud of yourselves!

Well done Crabtree!

Welcome back to a new academic year at Crabtree Farm Primary School.  We hope you are all as excited as we are for what we hope will be another action packed year ahead.

Tomorrow, Wednesday 4th September, we will be holding a parents and carers meeting at 5pm for those withchildren in Year 2 to Year 6 (those in Early Years and Year 1 already had these meetings back in July with Mrs Round).

The meetings will begin in the main hall for a brief presentation about school life and expectations. Then you will have the opportunity to visit your child's class and find out more information about what they will be learning throughout the school year, classroom systems and trips/residentials.

We would appreciate if you could make this meeting a priority as a lot of information will be given which will help you support your child/ren throughout the school year.

This is a parents/carers only meeting.

July 26, 2019

Well the 2018/2019 academic year is at an end and what a fantastic 12 months it’s been here at Crabtree Farm!  We’ve been on an incredible seven residential visits, visited exciting places such as: Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Cresswell Crags, Perlethorpe, Sherwood Pines and the National Space Centre to name a few.  We’ve also had visits from the Partake Theatre Company, the Fire Brigade, the Ambulance Service and have taken part in Area Band, Primary Parliament and Snappy Opera alongside other local schools.

I am incredibly proud of the opportunities we as a school have been able to offer the children we are fortunate enough to work with.  This time of year at school can be very bittersweet with us having to say goodbye to our year six pupils, but it is important to remember all they have achieved during their time here at Crabtree and as a staff team we are all very proud of the conscientious young people they have become.

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish them...

July 26, 2019

It is that time of year again where we have to say goodbye to people whose experience at Crabtree as come to an end.

Mr Ward will be leaving us after four incredible years at Crabtree.  Mr Ward first joined us as a student before returning as a teacher in 2015.

Miss Wadsworth will also be leaving us after two years here.  Miss Wadsworth worked with small groups of children and they will miss her as much as we will.

Ms Potter and Mrs Perrio will also be leaving us after just under a year here working in Year 2 and Year 6 respectively.

We’d like to wish them all well in their future roles.

This half term, we were delighted and very proud to be awarded our Artsmark Silver award from the Arts Council England. This award recognises the range of amazing arts opportunities we offer the children at our school, both in and out of the classroom. The children should be very proud of their achievements in art, music, dance and drama. The key principles we were judged upon were the school’s values and ethos, leadership, children and young people, curriculum design, range of offer, continued professional development, partnerships and equality and diversity. We plan to build on these practices by continuing to provide the children with quality experiences throughout the year and hopefully achieve our Gold award in the future.
