Today we were all a little excited, teachers included, when Santa Claus took time out of his busy schedule and was the star attraction at our Christmas Fayre. Alongside Santa, we were also joined by loads of smiling people who were busy enjoying the festive activities organised by our fantastic Parents' Group.
It was really nice to see so many families embracing the Christmas spirit together and we would like to thank you all for helping us spread the Christmas cheer that Crabtree is famous for.
Today we celebrated our half term Crabtree Superstars with prizes including books by David Walliams, Roald Dahl, Mitch Johnson, Rob Macfarlane and Abie Longstaff
for the children to keep forever.
However, if being awarded with a new book wasn't enough author Abie Longstaff also congratulated our superstars (via twitter) and we can't wait to pass this on to them once we all get together again in November.
We hope you all have a happy and safe half-term break and we can't wait to see you all again on November 4th 2019.
Tonight's Fireworks Night was a great success and we’d like to say a massive thank you to those of you who came out and supported this fantastic community event. Now in its fifth year, this year’s event was bigger than ever and there were more amazing things available to see and do than in previous years.
This would not have been possible without the stallholders and fairground rides so we must take this opportunity to thank them for the key part they played in the success of this Parents’ Group event.
The Fireworks Night really is a community event and we would like to thank Crabtree Farm Community Centre for once again offering their support. We also must thank our amazing Parents' Group who worked tirelessly to make the whole event happen; their dedication is nothing short of amazing!
Today the pupils, parents and staff here at Crabtree Farm Primary School got behind Macmillan Cancer Support's annual Coffee Morning and managed to raise an impressive £1208.83 for this good cause.
We'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported today's fundraising event. We wouldn't have been able to raise this incredible amount of money if it wasn't for those of you who baked a cake, joined us for a coffee or wore non-uniform. You should all feel very proud of yourselves!
Well the 2018/2019 academic year is at an end and what a fantastic 12 months it’s been here at Crabtree Farm! We’ve been on an incredible seven residential visits, visited exciting places such as: Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Cresswell Crags, Perlethorpe, Sherwood Pines and the National Space Centre to name a few. We’ve also had visits from the Partake Theatre Company, the Fire Brigade, the Ambulance Service and have taken part in Area Band, Primary Parliament and Snappy Opera alongside other local schools.
I am incredibly proud of the opportunities we as a school have been able to offer the children we are fortunate enough to work with. This time of year at school can be very bittersweet with us having to say goodbye to our year six pupils, but it is important to remember all they have achieved during their time here at Crabtree and as a staff team we are all very proud of the conscientious young people they have become.
This half term, we were delighted and very proud to be awarded our Artsmark Silver award from the Arts Council England. This award recognises the range of amazing arts opportunities we offer the children at our school, both in and out of the classroom. The children should be very proud of their achievements in art, music, dance and drama. The key principles we were judged upon were the school’s values and ethos, leadership, children and young people, curriculum design, range of offer, continued professional development, partnerships and equality and diversity. We plan to build on these practices by continuing to provide the children with quality experiences throughout the year and hopefully achieve our Gold award in the future.
We will be holding a parents and carers meeting on Wednesday 4th September at 5pm, for those with children in Year 2 to Year 6 (those in Early Years and Year 1 have already had these meetings with Mrs Round in July).
We will begin in the main hall for a brief presentation about school life and expectations. Then you will have the opportunity to visit your child’s class and find out more information about what they will be learning throughout the school year, classroom systems and trips/residentials.
We would appreciate if you could make this meeting a priority as a lot of information will be given which will help you support your child/ren throughout the school year.
It is a well-known fact that at Crabtree we like to raise money for charity and our Cancer Research’s Race for Life in July was a great success. Thank you to all the parents/carers who joined us in raising money for this good cause.

By taking part in Race for Life and uniting together against cancer, they’ll be doing something really special.
