Here at Crabtree Farm we believe that reading is a key skill, so with this in mind you won't be surprised to learn that ,once again, we gave this half-term's Crabtree Superstars books by well known authors such as: J.K Rowling, Julia Donaldson, Lydia Monks and Paddington author Michael Bond for the children to keep forever.
However, if receiving a new book wasn't enough - author and illustrator Lydia Monks also congratulated our superstars (via twitter) and we can't wait to pass this on to them once we all get together again in November.
We can only wonder who will be our Christmas Superstars. Exciting times!
This half term we have to say a fond farewell to Mrs Cullen who is retiring after an impressive 29 years of dedication to the children of Crabtree.
Mrs Cullen started working at what was Bonington Infants in 1989 as a Mid-Day Supervisor and during her time with us, Mrs Cullen has had many roles including Cleaner, School Governor and her current position in our school office.
We’d like to take this opportunity to wish Mrs Cullen a long and happy retirement and we are sure you will join us in saying a huge thank you for all that she has done for our community.
We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who attended our Fireworks Night. Crabtree came out in force and made our community event a great success.
Now in its fourth year, this year’s event was the biggest we have ever held with more amazing things to see and do than ever before!
It would not be the same without the fantastic stallholders and fairground rides so we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for the part they played in the night's success.
The Fireworks Night really is a community event and we would like to thank Crabtree Farm Community Centre for once again offering their support. We also must thank our amazing Parents' Group who worked tirelessly to make the whole event happen; their dedication is nothing short of amazing!
Today our Year 6 pupils visited the Palace Theatre in Newark where they enjoyed a live performance of Michael Morpurgo’s Private Peaceful. Year Six have been reading this incredibly moving story as part of their World War 1 topic and all the children seemed to enjoy seeing characters they know so much about being brought to life on stage before their eyes.
On behalf of the pupils and staff in Year 6 we would like say a huge thank you to the cast and crew who made our visit the memorable experience that it was.
At Crabtree Farm we like to celebrate the successes of members of our school community so when we heard that these three Crabtree Stars had completed the Robin Hood Half Marathon we just had to invite them to bring their medals in to school and congratulate them on their sporting success. Well done!
