Well the 2018/2019 academic year is at an end and what a fantastic 12 months it’s been here at Crabtree Farm! We’ve been on an incredible seven residential visits, visited exciting places such as: Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Cresswell Crags, Perlethorpe, Sherwood Pines and the National Space Centre to name a few. We’ve also had visits from the Partake Theatre Company, the Fire Brigade, the Ambulance Service and have taken part in Area Band, Primary Parliament and Snappy Opera alongside other local schools.
I am incredibly proud of the opportunities we as a school have been able to offer the children we are fortunate enough to work with. This time of year at school can be very bittersweet with us having to say goodbye to our year six pupils, but it is important to remember all they have achieved during their time here at Crabtree and as a staff team we are all very proud of the conscientious young people they have become.
This half term, we were delighted and very proud to be awarded our Artsmark Silver award from the Arts Council England. This award recognises the range of amazing arts opportunities we offer the children at our school, both in and out of the classroom. The children should be very proud of their achievements in art, music, dance and drama. The key principles we were judged upon were the school’s values and ethos, leadership, children and young people, curriculum design, range of offer, continued professional development, partnerships and equality and diversity. We plan to build on these practices by continuing to provide the children with quality experiences throughout the year and hopefully achieve our Gold award in the future.
We will be holding a parents and carers meeting on Wednesday 4th September at 5pm, for those with children in Year 2 to Year 6 (those in Early Years and Year 1 have already had these meetings with Mrs Round in July).
We will begin in the main hall for a brief presentation about school life and expectations. Then you will have the opportunity to visit your child’s class and find out more information about what they will be learning throughout the school year, classroom systems and trips/residentials.
We would appreciate if you could make this meeting a priority as a lot of information will be given which will help you support your child/ren throughout the school year.
It is a well-known fact that at Crabtree we like to raise money for charity and our Cancer Research’s Race for Life in July was a great success. Thank you to all the parents/carers who joined us in raising money for this good cause.
Don't forget that our annual Race for Life event for Cancer Research takes place on Wednesday 19th June 2019 (Fingers crossed the weather is on our side!)

The dates for the Year 6 (identified children only) swimming sessions are as follows:
Monday 15th July
Wednesday 17th July
Thursday 18h July
Monday 23rd July
Wednesday 25th July
Please note boys must wear swimming trunks, not baggy swim shorts. Girls must not wear two-piece swimming costumes.
Swimming is part of the national curriculum and children should be able to swim at least 25 meters by the time they leave primary school in year 6. Your child has been chosen, as they did not achieve this in year 5.
This is an intensive course; please ensure your child has their swimming kit (swimming costume and towel) on the above days.
Please be informed that the swimming times ends at 3pm and that the children may be late returning to school.
Please contact me with any worries or concerns you may have prior to the course starting on Monday 15th July 2019
