The school provides a broad and balanced curriculum and ensures that all areas of the National Curriculum are covered at the appropriate level for all of our children.

All the children follow the programmes of study laid down in the National Curriculum.  The core subjects are English, Mathematics, Information Technology and Science.  The other subjects are called the foundation subjects and these are Design Technology, P.E., History,  Geography, Music and Art.  The children are also taught Drama, Personal and Social Education, Dance and R.E.

The school teaches phonics using the Department of Education's 'Letters and Sounds' publication.

We try to encourage parents to be partners with us in their child’s education.  The most important way is through day to day contact.  We encourage a two way feedback between home and school.  We need parents to support their child with their homework.

Children will regularly bring work home and we have booklets that explain how you can help your child.

We have our Crabtree Stars assembly every Friday where we celebrate children's achievements.

Early Years children follow an Early Years Curriculum.
The curriculum has 7 areas of learning.

Three Prime Areas:
· Personal, Social and Emotional Development
· Physical Development
· Communication and Language

Four Specific Areas:
· Literacy
· Mathematics
· Understanding the World
· Expressive Arts and Design

The curriculum is taught in a very
hands on way and develops children’s exploration and independence skills.

All children have the opportunity for independent learning through activities, focused activities led by adults and direct teaching time.
