School Football News - November 2019
Following last season’s promising performances, the Crabtree Farm football team started their competitive season with an indoor tournament at Harvey Haddon. 5 schools played a round robin format, with the top 2 going on to a grand finals event taking place in December. The team put in an amazing performance, seeing them top the table with 4 wins out of 4. The first place finish was fully deserved not only due to their footballing performances, but also thanks to their fantastic sportsmanship and respect for the game and their opponents. The kind comments made by the organisers suggest that they certainly did themselves and the school proud. We followed that tremendous performance up with our first league game in a couple of years. We matched a strong Rufford team on the pitch, and began to show our dominance by racing into a 2-0 lead. Rufford got a goal back before half time, which could have proved to be a setback. However, the boys’ resilience shone through, as they went and scored a third goal to give us a 3-1 win in our opening game. Once again, Crabtree Farm can be extremely proud of the team, not only for their performances but also their attitude, earning them praise from other schools and coaches.
Mr Jones and Mr Kiggins have been impressed with the boys’ enthusiasm and commitment to the team. It’s looking like it is going to be a good season for Crabtree.
