Food for Life is a school awards programme about making good food the easy choice for everyone – making healthy, tasty and sustainable meals the norm for all to enjoy, reconnecting children with where their food comes from, teaching them how it’s grown and cooked, and championing the importance of well-sourced ingredients.
The Food for Life Schools Awards demonstrates that our school is doing some fantastic work to provide healthy school meals, great lunchtimes and food education and that this all has a positive impact on both our pupils and our wider community.
We achieved the Bronze level for this awards programme in December 2016 and we are delighted to let you all know that we are one of only 60 schools in the country that have been awarded the Silver level.
We have been able to achieve this award due to our commitment at Crabtree Farm to involve all our children in growing vegetables and flowers in our Biodome. We were recognised as a school that offers cooking lessons to our pupils and the opportunity to visit farms.
