Modern Foreign Languages Intent Vision

Our children will understand and speak simple, conversational Spanish, allowing them to become part of a multi-cultural society. They will welcome and celebrate diversity and know how important languages can be in their future.

Modern Foreign Languages Curriculum at Crabtree Farm.

At Crabtree Farm we support our teaching of the National Curriculum for Modern Foreign Languages, through the use of the Language Angels scheme of work. At Crabtree Farm, we have chosen to teach Spanish as our Modern Foreign Language. This is taught to children in Year 3 to Year 6 each week. The two Language Angels documents detail the units covered and how the children's Spanish language skills and knowledge will develop during their time in primary school. Have a look to see what your child is learning in Spanish!

Modern Foreign Languages in Action

On 25th April 2024, we had our school Spanish day! We had a specialist Latin dance instructor come in and do year group dance lessons and at the end of the day, we had a whole school dance on the playground.

Mr Hull did Spanish music lessons, introducing some new Spanish instruments and music, adapting well so all year groups and different needs could access this.

These activities were offered to all year groups, to ensure all children were able to engage in different aspects of Spanish culture and learn some new Spanish vocabulary.

We also had a special Spanish themed lunch, having paella and orange Magdalene’s.
